I decided to get out on the water between boat shows yesterday and test out one of my favorite boats for fishing this area, a newly rigged C Hawk 23 . After obtaining some live shrimp for the trip we decided to try the big bridge in Apalach to see if the Sheepshead were hiding there . We caught a couple freshwater Catfish right off [ which my buddy Brad loves to eat] and kept dropping live shrimp into the structure . We were fishing 6 Lb tackle which does not mix with structure well , and the fish started biting . It required some pretty quick action to get em out , but we landed about 8 nice ones for the table . I thought a run up river might get us a chance to get to know the boat [ which is awesome with the Suzuki 175] , and maybe there would be a bonus striper in the deal . Well we pulled up to our favorite spot , dropped a few shrimp down and Wham ! 4 and 5 Lb stripers on every drop .Lots of fun on the 6 Lb test and ultralight gear. We had what we needed for the table and began releasing . What a great afternoon !
