Springtime here on "The Forgotten Coast" has been beautiful and, as our boatshow season winds down we turn our attention to the coming Summer Season, the time when many people use their boats more regularly and for longer periods than much of the rest of the year. Of course, here on Florida's Gulf Coast we enjoy excellent boating weather pretty much the year around but Summertime still brings out the boater in many folks. Be it day trips up the river to picnic, swim and party, shelling trips to our local unspoiled barrier islands, fishing both fresh water and salt water and relaxed cruising around our area waters with family and friends, going boating is a pleasure many people look forward to in the summertime. We hope you take advantage of the season, wherever you may be, and have a chance to get out on the water and experience one of the true joys in life ... boating!
We had a visit from our friend Bill Kenner from K2 Marine the other day . He was "on tour" with the all new 25' Blackjack. The official model name will be the 256 Blackjack . We have been anticipating this craft for a long while and it was well worth waiting for . It carries on the classic look and functional features that have set the 224 Blackjack apart from the pack for years. With its distinctive high bow , tumble home stern section and sexy shear line , it makes a statement of classic style and adds a good dose of modern performance rigged with a fly by wire Yamaha 300 H.P. outboard and standard T&H Atlas Jack Plate. The boat Bill brought had the optional Teleflex power steering added for easy maneuvering around the docks and at speed.
Packaged on the custom fitted/welded trailer from Kevin Desselle of Sport Trail Trailers, Bay St Louis, Mississippi she is ready to go where you want to go.
Some of the features include a walk in console with optional porta potti, 2 big livewells with recirculating pumps, a large faced console that can handle 2 12" multi function displays which should satisfy space for all your electronics needs. The gasketed deck compartments have stainless gas shocks and premium hardware, she is pre wired for 24 or 36 volt trolling motors. We will see a Hard Tee Top soon and this boat will lend itself to custom towers well.
Bill and Shug and I went out on a nice windy day for a test run. I was impressed by both the speed and great "hull manners" the boat displayed. We were able to skim across the waves at a 40+MPH cruise in comfort. The boat feels substantial and has no perceptible flex as she is busting comfortably through the waves. The high bow makes for a dry and secure feeling boat that is capable of offshore forays on nice days and almost all your inshore fishing needs as well. She can top out with the 300 H.P. at around 57 MPH and she is rated for the 350 Yamaha as well.
We have boats on order and they will be available for summer!
Wefing's Marine and C-Dory have a longstanding relationship, one we intend to pursue and concentrate on more this year. We have ordered some new boats and are awaiting delivery on a custom 26 Venture that was ordered for a South Florida customer and a stock 22 Cruiser as well as a stock 23 Venture Sport.
C-Dory Boats, as well as C-Dory owners, are some of our favorites. The boats are safe, comfortable, and well built by Northwest Marine Industries in Bellingham, WA. They have engendered a large and faithful following, many of them part of the C-Brats owners group, which we are happy to serve and count amongst our best and most enthusiastic customers.
We look forward to the delivery of our new C-Dorys and will follow up with some build photos and more news as our delivery day, which will be sometime early this summer, arrives.
Be sure to get your boat ready for the coming summer season. Nothing is worse than realizing you have forgotten something simple, like checking your steering or battery condition, or having a trailer failure on the morning when you want to use your boat and then finding out that your favorite local service department is booked up and won't be able to service your boat for a week or two.
