Honda Warranty Service Intervals

Portable Motors 2 to 20 HP

Regular service intervals are a bit shorter on the smallest of the small motors. The BF2D models call for initial service after 30 days or 10 hours, whichever comes first. They then call for every six months or 50 hours and every Year or 150 Hours. The BF15 and BF20 on the other hand call for after the first month or first 20 hours, then after 6 months or 100hrs and then every 12months or 200hours.

Mid Range – 25 to 90

The BF25A calls for one month or 20 hour initial service check. It then moves to every 200 hours or every 12 months, whichever happens first.

Large Outboards – BF115 – BF225

First month or 20 hours and then after the first 6 months or 100 hours and then every 12 months or 200 hours after that. Also a special note: replacing spark plugs at 2 years or 400 hours is recommended.

Remember: These are only recommended periods. If you use your motor particularly hard or have a month when you feel you use it harder than usual then you should err on the side of caution with your service intervals. Nobody likes to pay for service on a boat that appears to be running fine but it beats being towed home on a beautiful but ruined fishing day because a small part that should have been looked at and replaced failed you 30 or more miles offshore.
