Suzuki Marine has long been known for the strength of its three-year Limited Warranty coverage, and now it has become even stronger. Beginning with the 2001 model year, all new 2001 Suzuki four-stroke outboards are backed with an enhanced three-year Limited Warranty for pleasure users that covers major engine components for the entire three years.
"With the exception of a few ‘normal wear’ and external accessory items, what’s covered in the first year will be covered in the third," said Suzuki Marine’s Marketing Director Larry Vandiver. "This should provide even more peace of mind to Suzuki owners, and demonstrates how strongly we believe in the quality and dependability of our four-stroke motors," he added.
Suzuki was the first outboard manufacturer to back its products with a three-year Limited Warranty, and will continue to offer its industry-leading Suzuki Extended Protection Plan that provides boaters with a total of six years of protection. In addition, Suzuki will continue to offer its existing three-year Limited Warranty on its two-stroke outboard models from 5 to 225 horsepower.
This enhanced protection on Suzuki four-strokes will be welcome news to boat owners around the country. With four-stroke motors ranging from the portable 9.9/15 horsepower models to the brawny, new-for-2001 90 and 115 horsepower fuel-injected four-strokes, there’s a Suzuki for every type of boat – from car-toppers to offshore catamarans, and everything in between. "Suzuki owners know they can count on their outboards to get them out and back, even in tough conditions," said Vandiver.

What is covered
American Suzuki Motor Corporation provides a limited warranty which covers each new Suzuki Four-Stroke Outboard Motor imported and distributed by American Suzuki Motor Corporation. The warranty will cover necessary repairs for any defect which is caused directly by materials or workmanship. The Suzuki Limited Warranty will be in effect if the outboard motor was properly installed and serviced by an Authorized Suzuki Outboard Motor Dealer.
Warranty Coverage Periods
Your Warranty Begins
All warranty periods begin on the date the motor is first delivered to the customer or first put into dealer service, such as a dealer demonstrator -- whichever comes first.
Dealer Responsibilities
Any Authorized Suzuki Outboard Dealer will perform warranty repairs to your outboard.
The Authorized Suzuki Outboard Dealer from whom you purchased your outboard is required to provide you with a signed copy of the Certificate of Pre-Delivery. This form will complete your warranty records and should be attached to your warranty policy for future reference. The Certificate of Pre-Delivery outlines the steps your dealer has taken to fulfill its pre-delivery responsibility to properly install and service your new Suzuki Outboard.
Your dealer will also present you with a warranty identification Servicard at the time of purchase. Dealers will need to refer to your Servicard whenever you request warranty repairs. Should you lose your Servicard your dealer can obtain a replacement for you at no charge. If you need warranty repairs and you have misplaced your Servicard other proof of purchase will be required such as the original copy of your bill of sale.
