The bay looked quite alive as I crossed the bridge to Eastpoint this morning . Bait showing on glass flat water made me want to launch and cast . With the warmer temps we can expect the trout to become active and everything else we like to catch to start moving . I expect a great fishing year here on Apalachicola Bay and surrounding waters .

Marc,
There has been some very large red fish caught at the oil docks in St. Joe, fishing at night between 10:00pm and 3:00am. I caught 6 fish last week (3-14-05) largest at 29lbs--to 26lbs length 41" to 37". I only caught two Sunday night. HEE HEE HEE. It is a lot of fun and sitting on the dock pier doesn't cost anything. All of us fishermen/women appreciate the fine job you do on keeping us up to date on the fishing report--Thanks for a job well done...

That sounds like a great way to spend the evening ! I know the redfish are thick around East Bay here at and around the rivermouths . I have had a few guys tell me of quarter acre schools. I went fishing on the beach Sun and filled a bucket with Whiting . They were feeding voraciously and I went home and fed on them voraciously . I appreciate the report!

Marc,

If you had to pick an area for reds over the next few weeks, would it be east bay, st. vincent or somewhere else.

Thanks for the weather and fish update.

Thats a tossup as both areas are productive . The shrimpers are starting to catch shrimp out in the bay ,so.... Id try St Vincent . Also the Pompano have shown up on the beaches on St George . I had a fellow tell me he caught 3 in front of 300 Ocean Mile on the East side of St George on rubber sand fleas! Also on Kathy Robinson's report Nathan has caught a few . Let us know how your trip goes and come by and see us here at Wefing's.

Marc,

Thanks for the report.  We will be driving down from Virginia next Saturday to spend a week and always stop by your place.  I will check in for a redfish report later on in the week.
