When Jewfish were legal to catch

My brother Eddie is a great fisherman who lives in NC now.  But when I was a young teenager in St. Petersburg (about 1960) I'll never forget the huge grouper he caught while out on the deep sea party boat "Atlanta" that docked at John's Pass.  When he hooked it he knew he had a whopper on the line.  The crew said he was snagged and wanted to cut the line.  He fought with them to stay right there.  After about 30-minutes he pulled up this 325-lb. Jewfish.  He was using 60-lb. test line.  I didn't see it until it was at his house and had strung it up on a swing set in the backyard.  It was so heavy it bent the swing set into a "V" shape.  What a memory.  What a fish.  They ended up taking it down to the black section of St. Pete. and cut off free grouper steaks.  They drew quite a crowd and made a lot of folks happy.
